Early Years Education – Insight from Fox & Cubs Nanny Agency
Last week, Michael Wilshaw delivered a speech launching Ofsted’s first annual report on early years education. The report raised concerns about ensuring equal education for all children in the UK, with discussions on whether formal schooling should start as early as age two.
While no official decision has been made, Ofsted has proposed a checklist of 10 essential skills that children should develop by the age of five.
The goal is to focus on social, emotional, and learning skills to create a strong foundation for academic success.
At Fox & Cubs Nanny Agency, we strongly align with these key values, which include:
- The ability to sit and listen
- Being aware of other children
- Understanding the words “no” and “stop”
- Being toilet trained
- Recognizing their own name
- Asking an adult for help
- Taking off their coat and putting on shoes
- Speaking in full sentences
- Opening and enjoying books
Early years education plays a crucial role in shaping a child’s future, and nannies play an essential part in supporting these developmental milestones. How do you encourage these skills in your little ones?
